Tuesday, 6am - A BUSINESS gutted by a freak fire in January has re-opened this week after an £18,000 face-lift.
Press Gang laundrette on London Road was ravaged by fire after tea towels left in the shop overnight caught fire on Friday, January 8.

Owner, Libby Simpson has worked hard getting the business back on its feet in the 16 weeks since the accident.

Libby said: "I was devastated when it happened. I worked hard to build this business up and it was just getting to a nice comfortable level and then everything was gone, totally gone."

Replacing the lost equipment cost £18,000 but Libby has no idea how much more it has cost to clean and redecorate the building.

She said: "It looks beautiful now and it is good to have everything nice and clean and shiny.

"You can lose a lot of customers in 16 weeks but we are hoping they will all come back. They can have a guided tour if they want."

Libby and her Saturday girl, Pat, put the finishing touches to the laundrette at the weekend ready and want to let everyone know they are back in business.

Libby said: "It's been tough but we have done alright in the end and we've come out smiling."
