Thursday, 6am - A CHEMOTHERAPY nurse is raising money to help victims of cancer by running her first marathon.
Jenny Salmon, 31, of Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir, will be running the Edinburgh Marathon on May 25 to help raise money to build a 'Maggie's cancer caring centre' at Nottingham City Hospital.

A Maggie's cancer caring centre will provide a place for people with cancer, their family and friends. It is hoped the Maggie's in Nottingham will be up and running by 2012.

Jenny said: "The centre will cost around £3 million but they are trying to raise £500,000 before they start building the centre so hopefully I can help.

"The hospital does do a lot of chemo care for people from Grantham because they usually go to either Lincoln or Nottingham.

Jenny has completed two half marathons in the past three years but has never ran a full marathon.

She said: "I'm a little nervous about running my first full marathon. Exercise doesn't come that easily too me."

Jenny will be running the marathon with her dad, Dave Eldridge, 60, a member of Grantham athletics club.

She said: "He has done lots of marathons in the past but this will be his first Edinburgh Marathon."
