One dead in three-vehicle road smash at Ropsley

Saturday, 3.30pm - A WOMAN has died in a smash between an artic lorry and two cars at Ropsley.
Emergency services were called to the A52 near the Roman garage at about 10pm last night.

A blue Vauxhall Astra driven by a 24-year-old local man, a blue mini driven by a 57-year-old man from Donington and a Volvo artic lorry driven by a 25-year-old Peterborough man were involved in the collision.

Firefighters used hydraulic equipment to free three casulaties.

The driver of the Astra suffered minor injuries while the passenger was taken to Boston's Pilgrim Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The couple in the Mini were also taken to hospital and the 55-year-old passenger later died in hospital.

The lorry driver suffered shock but was otherwise uninjured.

The road was reopened at about 4am.
