Wednesday, 2pm - A LOTTERY grant of £250,000 will pay for new play park facilities across the district, plus workshops to keep youngsters busy during the summer holidays.
South Kesteven District Council secured the cash from The Big Lottery Fund, and aims to have all the facilities in place in time for the summer break.

Community leisure officer Dale Kitchen said: "Securing this funding has been a long process involving lots of dedicated people, hard work and determination.

"All the effort has paid off, and these new facilities will be a great boost to hundreds of youngsters across our district."

  • Fulbeck playground will have £32,000 spent on a multi-use play area and a meeting point for teenagers.

  • Children living in Allington will have a 650m sq area to kick around a football and play hockey and netball. The new facilities, costing £58,771, will also include an equipment storage area and a separate tarmac basketball pad where youngsters can shoot some hoops.

  • Some £53,500 will be spent on a games area for the children of Londonthorpe. The Ruston Road play area will have football, netball, basketball and cricket facilities.

  • An existing play park in Dowsby will be extended using £32,000 of the grant to include Tower 4 Teens, an adventure play tower made up of climbing frames, ropes and a slide for youngsters aged 10 to 16.

  • More than £60,000 has been allocated to a series of 15 free play days and over 100 out-of-school play sessions, including craft, drama and sports workshops. These creative play events will take place across the district.

The remaining cash will be used to extend a skate park in Deeping St James.
