Thursday, 1.30pm - TRADERS in Grantham are celebrating a fourth of July with a difference with the first Independents' Day tomorrow.
Red, white and blue rosettes in shop windows will mark the independent traders taking part in the day to promote the unique businesses that operate in Grantham.

The George Shopping Centre and town centre development group Grantham Future have set up the event to promote the diversity of independent businesses in the town.

The day will be chance to find out about the diverse range of products and services offered by the town's businesses.

There's also chance to win £100 to spend in the George Shopping Centre.
George Centre manager Hilary Pearce and town centre manager Lia Ibbotson hope Independents' Day will become a yearly event to promote the town.

A high proportion of Grantham's businesses - 57 per cent - are independent firms.

Ninety of the town's traders have signed up to the event and will be displaying bright rosettes, provided by Grantham Future, to show they represent Grantham's unique shopping experience.

As part of the Independents' Day event, the George Shopping Centre is offering chance to win £100 to spend in any of its businesses.

See this week's Journal to find out how to win the money.
