Monday, 4pm - PREPARATIONS are under way for Grantham Dramatic Society's next big production Are You Being Served?
The society is holding an open night for potential new members, followed by auditions for the production, which is sponsored by Grantham's oldest retailer HH Cox and will be shown at The Guildhall Arts Centre between May 6 and 9.
Anyone interested in learning new skills, building their confidence and helping out on or off-stage is invited to the open night on Tuesday, January 20.
It will be held at 7.30pm at the meeting rooms at The Old Malthouse, off Springfield Road, where the newly-refurbished Green Room will be unveiled.
Members will present an "idiot's guide to doing comedy in Grantham", a screening of the society's video project spoof of Queen's "I Want to Break Free" and a backstage video from GDS' Guildhall performance of Blackadder.
Roles available for new members include acting, directing, producing, marketing, costume design, prop-making, painting, blogging, photography, make-up and hair design, sound, lighting and prompting.
Auditions for Are You Being Served?, which the society promises will be "the funniest thing to hit Grantham this year", will follow on Thursday, January 22.
With sponsorship from HH Cox, GDS plans to distribute leaflets promoting the show to 15,000 homes in Grantham.
