VOLUNTEERS from the British Red Cross tea bar in Grantham hospital presented the accident and emergency department with new furniture for the relatives’ room.

Each year items are donated to the wards within the hospital that enhance patients’ experience during their time there, and are items that are not able to be procured from hospital budgets. This year the volunteers took on the challenge of furnishing the relatives room within the accident and emergency department. A charity spokesman said: “The furniture looks great and has really improved the small room. The Red Cross also donated three watercolour pictures to enhance the space. The relatives’ room is viewed as essential by staff within the accident and emergency department, providing somewhere that staff can talk to family members about patients, in a quiet and private environment.”
