NEIGHBOURS in Hough-on-the-Hill have had their link to facilities in nearby Caythorpe restored following a lengthy road closure.

As reported in the Journal last month, Lincolnshire County Council closed Frieston Road due to a collapse caused by badgers tunneling underneath.

Highways officers have worked with Natural England to excavate the badger sett and install reinforced pipes to allow the animals - a young adult and four cubs - safe passage beneath the road.

Area highways manager Mark Heaton said: “It has been an extraordinary experience, not something I’ve been faced with before.”
