PEOPLE aged over 40 are being urged to have their pulse checked at a free walk-in session at Grantham Hospital on Tuesday.
The aim of the event is to highlight the need for cimple GP pulse checks to detect serious heart rhythm disorders, as part of Heart Rhythm Week 2011.
Free, simple and routine pulse checks would help to save thousands from death or disability resulting from heart rhythm disorders, not to mention millions from the healthcare budget.
The pulse check event will run from 9am until 3pm in the Diabetes Centre, located at the front of the hospital. It should take only minutes.
To reduce the chance of long queues, it is recommended that people with a surname beginning A-M drop in during the morning, and N-Z during the afternoon. No booking or appointment is necessary.
