BABY Freya will never forget when we are in an Olympic year - it’s the only time she gets to celebrate her birthday.
Freya was born just before 1am on Wednesday, February 29 at Lincoln County Hospital weighing 8lbs 60z. She was a week overdue.
Mum Sarah Turner of Welbourns Lane, Long Bennington said: “It’s good because it’s a special date but it’s not nice only getting to celebrate your birthday every four years!
“It’s strange because we can’t say she’s officially one until she’s four.”
Sarah saw last week’s story in the Journal about Harold Cox who turned 100 last Wednesday.
She said: “He looked like he was having a great time.
“It’s a good year with the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee - I’ve been keeping all of the newspapers to show her when she grows up.”
Sarah is already thinking about when the family will celebrate Freya’s birthday in non-leap years.
She said: “We will probably celebrate in the 28th but I guess if March 1 is a Saturday then that might be better.”
