A SPECIAL beer brewed in Grantham will soon be on sale in town pubs to mark the 40th birthday of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

The Grantham branch of CAMRA has teamed up with Brewster’s Brewery off Swingbridge Road to create a special beer to mark the occasion, called Ruby Cubed.

Neville Lomas of Grantham CAMRA said: “It is called Ruby because it is the 40th anniversary. Everything is to do with the 40th - there are even 40 ingredients making up the beer.”

The beer will go on sale at the Tollemache pub on March 16.

The Tollemache is also celebrating being named the town pub of the year by Grantham CAMRA. The White Swan in Barrowby picked up the country pub of the year award and the Railway Club picked up the club of the year award.

Plans are already in place for this summer’s Grantham Beer Festival. This year’s event will start on Wednesday, August and run until Saturday, August 13.
