On Girlguiding Thinking Day 2013 Bex Mezzo was appointed the new District Commissioner for Grantham North area.

Her role will be to help support leaders who run units in Barkston, Barrowby, Caythorpe, Foston and Wilsford. Bex is currently a leader with the 1st Barkston Guides and 1st Barkston Centenary Senior Section.

Bex said: “I will be in this role for the next three years and what I would love to do is find new leaders for some of the units that currently only have one leader. Barkston Rainbow Guides, Foston Rainbows and Brownies are all units that continue with regular help from the community and parents, but it would be great to find new leaders for these units.”

If anyone would like to become a leader with Guiding you can find out more by going to www.girlguiding.org.uk/ and clicking on ‘get involved’. Volunteers don’t have to give up every week but most units meet weekly. There is a leadership qualification which will include first aid training, accounts (if you choose to do the fourth mudule) and much more.
