FAMILY and friends surrounded Kathleen Proctor as she celebrated her 101st birthday at Newton House Care Home in Grantham.

A party marked the occasion, complete with birthday cake, cards and gifts.

Born into a family of farmers in 1911 in Keyworth, Nottinghamshire, Kathleen moved with her parents just a couple of miles away to Widmerpool aged 13.

She married Henry Harrison in 1936, and they went on to have four children. Brian was born in 1938, Jean in 1939, Margaret in 1941 and Frances in 1943.

In 1947, the family moved to a farm at Granby near Grantham, where they lived until 1968. Sadly, Henry died two years later.

Kathleen went on to marry Frank Procter and they moved to Grimsby.

After Frank’s death, Kathleen returned to the Grantham area to be near her children.

She has 13 grandchildren and 19 great-granchildren.
