Grantham was in the spotlight on BBC Radio Lincolnshire on Thursday, during Melvyn in the Morning.
Host Melvyn Prior ran a fantastic feature on the Grantham Journal Business Awards after his stint as compere of the event on Wednesday evening.
Click on the link below to hear an interview with Journal editor Paul Richardson, Young Entrepreneur Award winner Ellis Brown, of Genes Barbershop, and Peter Greenhalgh, of Business of the Year Treasure Transport.
Paul talks about the “thriving business community” and the town’s “wonderful people”. In reply to Melvyn’s question “why does the Grantham Journal put on these awards?”, he said: “We need to put something back into the community. It’s something that makes the town feel good, makes the people feel good and makes us feel good.”
Ellis talks about his successful Westgate barbershop, giving Melvyn a little hair-related advice, before Peter gives an insight into Treasure Transport, now in its 60th year.
He said Grantham is a town on the up, adding: “You look at the businesses nominated tonight and, the thing is, you quite often don’t hear about these businesses, they are tucked away and you don’t necessarily know they exist.
“It makes me proud when you look at the businesses that are here and what they do – it’s all coming from Grantham.”
