Vito hoped to open the new restaurant by the end of the month

A RESTAURATEUR and TV personality who was due to open a new restaurant in Grantham, died on Tuesday.

The future of a planned £300,000, 200-seater restaurant has been thrown into doubt following the death of entrepreneur Vito Cataffo.

Vito had been planning to open the Italian restaurant at the old Malt Shovel pub in Westgate.

The restaurant was due to open in late October.

Amador Abruneiras, the manager of Vito’s Lincoln restaurant, Gino’s, said he felt the restaurant plans would still go ahead.

Amador said: “He was deteriorating but he was still larger than life. He was very good at hiding it. “

Vito is believed to have died from a diabetes related-illness.
