Customers of a busy village Post Office are worried they may lose the service as part of new ‘modernisation’ proposals.
The Post Office is considering changes at Great Gonerby, which may see the dedicated Post Office section of the shop disappear.
Shop owner and postmaster Stuart Wilson said: “They want to turn us into a Post Office Local, which basically means our current post office area would disappear and it would be replaced by a basic service operated in the shop.
“Ours is a very busy Post Office so we want to keep all the services we have, but I heard on Monday that I had lost my first appeal against the proposals.
“I am very concerned about the effect on the business as a whole if we were to lose some of the services.
“If they do turn us into a Post Office Local I can see us not being here in 18 months.”
