A Grantham auctioneers and valuers business is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a roadshow of events across the county.

Golding Young & Mawer, which has an auction room in Old Wharf Road, as well as salesrooms in Bourne and Lincoln and a valuation office in Stamford, is one of the largest businesses of its type in the county.

The programme of anniversary events will include visits to racecourses and county shows and will culminate with a three-day sale across the firm’s auction rooms in September.

Managing director Colin Young said: “A roadshow seemed like the perfect way to meet with and say thank you to the people who have helped to make the business what it is today.”

The roadshow events began at the Peterborough Festival of Antiques, when visitors to the Golding Young & Mawer stand included host of TV’s Bargain Hunt Tim Wonnacott, who was filming at the fair. The highlight of the anniversary programme will be a sale on September 2, 3 and 4.

Mr Young said: “Our 150th anniversary sale will offer sellers a unique opportunity to consign to this prestigious sale. In turn our buyers, dealers and collectors will have the opportunity to pick up some very special items.”

Among other dates for the roadshow are: May 11, Spalding Antiques Fair; May 24-26, Stamford Meadows; June 1, Rutland County Show; July 4-6, Grimsthorpe Castle.
