There is no need to travel miles and to get your Christmas shopping done this year as more shops than ever before are staying open late as part of Grantham’s two-day late-night shopping event.
Shops in the town centre will be getting into the Christmas spirit by extending their opening hours until at least 7pm on Thursday, December 13, and Thursday, December 20.
Organised by Grantham Business Club, the event aims to promote and support local businesses by make it easier for people to shop locally.
Chad, owner of clothing chain Empire, encourages everyone to come and support their local businesses at this festive event.
He said: “If people use this opportunity, it will encourage even more shops to open up.
“It’s an event for the whole family; come and see the Christmas lights!”
Chad also highlighted the convenience of shopping locally, saying: “If you buy locally, you can exchange locally.”
Late night shopping in Grantham has seen a big increase in participation and popularity over the past three years. This year it is estimated that there will be around a 10 per cent increase from last year in the amount of shops opening up for late-night shoppers, with both high street chain stores and independent retailers getting involved.
As well as shops, cafés will also joining in the festive fun by keeping their doors open later so that shoppers can refuel. Grantham’s Christmas lights will be on, and some stores will even be offering tasty treats to shoppers.
