A young couple have hit upon a new business idea, a sweet takeaway service which delivers chocolate, cakes and ice cream to
people’s homes in Grantham and surrounding villages.
Martin Richards and Luanne Morton, of Great Gonerby, started Indulgence Delivered on November 7 and just a few weeks later they are in big demand.
The couple spent around £4,000 setting up the company - most of which paid for the car which they make deliveries in - and already they are talking about expanding into neighbouring cities Nottingham and Lincoln.
Martin, 30, said: “When we started I thought we would be doing well to get five orders a week but we have been getting between 16 and 20 orders every night. Our average order is £10 and it is people from all backgrounds who are calling us, single mothers, couples, families.”
Food is bought in bulk and showcased on the website. Best sellers at present are the ‘hanky panky chocolate ice cream slice’ and the ‘chocolate lovin’ spoon cake slice’. Customers must make a minimum order of £5 and they can order soft drinks and chocolate bars, as well as slices of cake and ice cream.
Martin makes the deliveries, 6-11pm Tuesday to Thursday, 6pm-midnight Friday to Saturday and 6-10pm on Sunday. Luanne, 29, processes the orders while her partner is on the road and the couple also juggle the demands of their business with looking after their eight-month-old daughter.
Social media has helped them promote the service with 435 followers on Twitter and more than 300 ‘likes’ on Facebook, where satisfied customers have been shouting about their love for the company.
“We haven’t advertised much although we did put 3,000 fliers around Grantham,” added Martin, a former sales and marketing consultant.
“Word of mouth has helped and we are really pleased with how busy we have been.”
