BUTCHERS from Watkin’s in Westgate, Grantham, tucked into one of their famous bacon butties this week as part of Farmhouse Breakfast Week.
The week, promoted by the National Farmers’ Union, aims to spread the word about the benefits of a decent meal to start the day.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day says the NFU, which recommends foods that are rich in complex carbohydrates like porridge, muesli and wholemeal bread.
And a sandwich made with low fat bacon can also add valuable protein to your diet.

Friday, February 3, 2012 at 11:27 AMIt is important to consider the vegetarian option when entertaining. My personal preference is "Go away, Go away now. Whilst I would love to listen to the inexorable truth regarding global warming, the human rights violations of Dale farm and the human tragedy of people turning up to court in tracky bottoms - although thatâs not the worst poverty youâve seen oh no whilst back packing in Goa you saw true material poverty coupled with a spiritual serenity that you have embraced but others seem to lose as soon as you enter the room. Itâs nothing personal, itâs just that the other guests and I want to devour animal corpse unjudged, break wind (thus exacerbating global warming) and decry of state of a 'Forest' that's in Nottingham rather than the Amazon."

Friday, February 3, 2012 at 01:39 AMThat's odd, personally I really enjoy a slice or two of well butchered animal! However, I don't eat gluten so prefer mine without the "sandwich" part....neither dietary choice makes us more morally correct, of course, they just make us bloody annoying dinner guests ;)
