CATERING supply company Brakes plans to create up to 50 new jobs as part of an expansion of its depot near Grantham.
The company, which supplies food to caterers, pubs and restaurants all over the country, is building a new 5,200 sq m warehouse at its site at Gonerby Moor.
Brakes currently employs 500 staff at the Grantham site and most of the 50 new jobs will be in the new warehouse. Some extra delivery drivers will also be taken on.
The warehouse extension is due for completion by late summer and will consist of expanded storage, eight new loading docks, level access doors and a new mezzanine area.
Creation of a new vehicle entrance and car park and the relocation of an existing chiller plant are already underway as part of the first phase of the development.
Brakes marketing director James Armitage said: “This is a major expansion designed to create a single multi-temperature facility that will enhance our current site and represents a significant investment both in terms of jobs and infrastructure.
“When completed, our customers will be able to benefit from a more efficient distribution solution capable of delivering high quality fresh, seasonal and locally sourced produce as well as an extensive range from the Brakes Group specialist businesses.”
