The awards, held at the International Conference Centre in Birmingham, played host to 32 finalists across 11 categories.

To win the Franchisor of the Year award, Fiona Williams, director of operations for Bluebird Care, demonstrated to a panel of judges the company’s excellent support to employees, strong company culture, leadership in innovation and commitment to franchising ethics.

In the last year Bluebird Care has developed new technologies within the care sector and created a number of new initiatives, raised awareness of industry related issues and ensured that franchisees and their care teams are recognised for their dedication, hard work and commitment through their Franchise of the Year Awards and Bluebird Care Awards.

Pip Wilkins, Chief Executive at the British Franchise Association, said: “Bluebird Care’s achievement is truly inspiring and as judges, we couldn’t help but notice the team’s hard work and overall excellence in growing their franchise. We are excited to see how the business shapes itself in the near future.”

Bluebird Care was also a finalist in the Young Franchisee of the Year category. Victoria Webber, franchisee for Bluebird Care South Lincolnshire, earned a well-deserved place as a finalist at the awards ceremony.

Victoria, Director at Bluebird Care South Lincolnshire said: “I am extremely proud of reaching the top three in the Young Franchisee of the Year Award and winning franchisor of the year is incredible! We are absolutely delighted to have received this recognition from the franchise industry. It really endorses the strength of the brand and level of support that is provided to help further differentiate our network of franchisees.”

Bluebird’s new office at Autumn Park in Grantham was officially opened last week by Mayor of Grantham Coun Mike Cook.

The company is already well established in Lincoln and north Lincolnshire, but decided to open an office in Grantham because it was receiving a lot of referrals from the area. The company delivers care to the elderly in their own homes.

Director Yvonne Webber said: “We are a family company which started in Lincoln. The opportunity came along for us to start up here because we got a lot of enquiries from the area. We give quality care to people and that’s what it is all about.”

The office is run by Fay Johnson, who said the company had a presence at the Grantham Carnival where it was well received.
