COLLEAGUES at Asda raised over £500 at the weekend when they arranged a firefighter awareness event.
Community life champion at the Grantham store, in Union Street, Karen Holm organised the event, which was attended by the town’s fire crew.
There were stalls and a Tombola as well as the star attraction, a paddling pool full of jelly, where Karen sat from 10am until 4pm.
To help raise even more money Karen even let the firefighters smash eggs on her head.
Her colleague, Mauricia Gallian, said: “It went very well. It was a bit funny, especially when they were chucking eggs on her head!
“We are immensely pleased with how much we raised. We would like to thank the customers for their support.”
The money raised will be donated to The Firefighters’ Charity.
Following the event on the Sunday night the store colleagues also held an Asda’s Got Talent night, where money was raised for Grantham Senior Citizens’ Club and Home Start.
