A retail park in Grantham was a sea of green when three stores decided to back a cancer charity’s campaign.

Pets at Home, Home Bargains and Brantano, in the Sankt Augustin Retail Park, all got behind Macmillan Cancer Support and raised over £300.

Not only did staff wear green t-shirts and wigs, and dress their stores in green balloons and bunting, they also decked out the car park.

Claire Johnson, manager of Brantano, organised the fund-raiser after deciding she wanted to help the people of Grantham, many of whom benefit from the support given by Macmillan.

The charity’s fund-raising manager for Lincolnshire Tanya Taylor said: “It truly was a sea of green for the weekend and I can’t thank the staff of Brantanos, Home Bargains and Pets At Home enough for making the weekend such a success.”

The money raised will be used to fund Macmillan’s cancer services, which include specialist nurses working throughout the NHS, a nurse-run support line and financial advice and support for cancer patients.

Locally Macmillan already provides an information centre within Grantham Hospital and last year gave over £14,500 to patients from Grantham to help them with the cost of cancer.

Tanya said: “We want to make sure no-one has to face cancer alone but we can’t do it without the amazing people who fund-raise for us, so we are so grateful for all their support.”
