A man voted as one of the most powerful people in online retail is the keynote speaker at an evening networking event billed as the highlight of South Kesteven District Council’s Enterprise Week.
Scott Weavers-Wright, formerly chief executive of Kiddicare and boss of Morrison’s general merchandise online, heads up a packed programme of events to help start-up, small and medium sized enterprises running from March 17-21.
He will address an enterprise summit organised by Total Networking at Stoke Rochford Hall on Wednesday, March 19, starting at 6.30pm with tickets at £10 to include a supper buffet.
Scott, who lives near Stamford, oversaw the transformation of family business Kiddicare from a promising online retailer to an award-winning multi-channel force and subsequent sale to Morrison’s in 2011 for £70m.
He said: “I am enthused by the dynamism in the district. As a result we have now launched Haatch as an investment vehicle for digital, retail and mobile start-ups, based in Stamford.
“The search is now on for talented young start-ups and graduates with big ideas and bags of potential and I look forward to inspiring others at Stoke Rochford.”
The event will incorporate the area finals of the Young Enterprise competition.
With technology a key element in business growth, the evening will include demonstrations of the latest equipment available to local business through local technology hubs, including state of the art 3D scanning, printing and laser engraving.
Corrine Garbett, strategic lead economic and regeneration, said: “SKDC values our businesses and business growth and this is a great opportunity for businesses all over the district to network with one another.”
