New plans drawn up for industrial units in Grantham that could help create 50 jobs

Industrial units could be built on a Grantham canalside site in a move that could pave the way for 50 jobs.

The plans involve the construction of 12 units for starter businesses on a 0.63 hectares site in Hollis Road.

The proposals have been put together by real estate company Tribal Lands Ltd, of Springfield Road Business Park, in Grantham.

The 12 units will generate a total floor space of 1,505 square metres.

The plans have been submitted to South Kesteven District Council for consideration.

The application site is made up of an area between the existing Hollis Road industrial estate to the north, the canal to the west and the Mow Beck to the east.

Architect Lee Sowerby, of BSA Design, said: “The units are aimed at the starter-end of the market, for instance home-based businesses or people who are renting a small unit and might want to purchase their own premises.

“The unit have been designed for flexibility.

“The layout of the site has been designed to provide views of the canal and communal seating outside will also be included.”

There will be a total of 38 car parking spaces, which will include 11 for motorists with disabilities. There will also be seven cycle parking spaces.

Mr Sowerby said that once completed, the units could provide workspace for 50 people.

The site was once part of the Bjorlows tannery that was sited alongside the Grantham Canal on what is now Hollis Road, and which closed in the 1960s.
