SKDC hopes to get people shopping in Grantham for longer by cutting short-term parking fees in Grantham.
The biggest cuts will see the cost of parking for up to four hours halved from £6 to £3, while the cost of parking for over four hours is cut from £8 to £4.
Council leader Linda Neal said: “We want to help businesses but we can’t change the business rates - it’s not in our remit.
“But we hope this will help improve the economic viability of the town centre by encouraging people to stay a little longer in the town.”
The price cuts will come into force on April 1 if it is supported by a full meeting of the council.
A public consultation has been launched on the proposals allowing the tax payer to have a say. For more information, log on to www.southkesteven.gov.uk
