JOBLESSNESS in the district has fallen by 21 per cent in the past year.
The number of people claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance in South Kesteven has fallen from 2,715 in February of 2010 to 2,138 in February of 2011, latest Government figures show.
The percentage of people claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance in South Kesteven is currently at 2.6 per cent, comparing favourably to national figures (3.8 per cent) and figures for the East Midlands (3.5 per cent).
However, it is not all good news at unemployment appears to be on the rise once more. In October the number of jobless in South Kesteven had fallen to 1,957 - its lowest point in the district since December, 2008 - but has since risen by 9.25 per cent to 2,138.
