We all know the story of Sir Isaac Newton and the apple.

We all know the story of Sir Isaac Newton and the apple. As Sir Isaac Newton sat under the apple tree an apple fell and struck his head. This was supposed to be the spark of inspiration he needed to write his theories on gravity.

The notorious event took place at Woolsthorpe Manor, and although the original tree has long since gone, it has been replaced by another apple tree which was grafted from the original.

Newton was born at Woolsthorpe Manor in 1642, and the Manor is kept in the style to which Newton would have been accustomed. Also on show is an interacive science exhibition, demonstrating Newton's life work.

The Manor is open from April to October, Wednesday to Sunday.
