A SPECIAL awards night was held for cadets from 47F Grantham Squadron Air Training to celebrate their achievements over the past year.
The event was only the second annual awards night held by the Grantham squadron and the evening featured a slideshow of photographs taken of the cadet’s wide range of activities during the past 12 months.
Officer Commanding 47F Gary Allen said: “The review has become very popular and this was no exception with the cadets families invited along to see the slide show.”
The second half of the evening was devoted to the presentation of awards to cadets who have excelled throughout the year.
A new trophy for this year is the Group Captain Frank Doran award for the best flight.
Amongst the special guests presenting the awards was Mrs Sharon Wigley who had travelled from her home in Hampshire and who’s son, Jonathan, a former cadet with 47F was killed in action five years ago serving with the Royal Marines.
The “Jonathan Wigley” award for team spirit and enthusiasm was awarded to cadet Andrew Stuart.
