A Discovery Day will be held by Grantham Canal Society on Sunday, October 13, at Woolsthorpe by Belvoir.

The annual ‘Dirty Duck Race’ will take place as well as stalls and demonstrations to include creative crafts, clog dancing by the Maids of Clifton and refreshments to the accompaniment of Melstrum Ukulele Orchestra.

Children can take part in a variety of activities including 18th century games, the discovery trail, canoe rides and see the RSPB Futurescapes Project. And use your ingenuity for the ‘make a model boat out of junk’ competition. There will also be narrowboat rides which you can book.

The society’s recently launched Learning Team will be on hand to talk about the canal to help with school curriculum support and group activities.

Discovery Day takes place at the canal depot by the Dirty Duck pub in Woolsthorpe by Belvoir from 10am to 5pm. Admission is free. Car parking and Sunday lunches will be available at the pub.
