Friday will be a very special day for Karen Chevalier as she celebrates turning 50.
A well-known dance teacher, Karen has been dancing for 40 years, starting with ballet before moving on to ballroom. It was while helping at the Dianeric Dance Centre in Launder Terrace that her love of teaching dance was realised. She said: “I love teaching people to dance. It gives me great satisfaction to see people of all ages and backgrounds, who say they have two left feet, enjoying learning to dance. It gives them new friends and a new social life while keeping them fit. You always meet the nicest people on the dance floor.” Karen, who is Grantham born and educated, teaches ballroom and Latin American dancing in Grantham and the surrounding area, from complete beginners to competitors. Highlights of her career include dancing with former Strictly Come Dancing star Vincent Simone, winning an inventive dance competition with her mambo tequila, dancing the Viennese waltz on TV’s The Australian Princess and recently becoming a dance examiner for the National Assocation of Teachers of Dancing.
