A woman who has lived most of her life in Yorkshire celebrates her 100th birthday today (Christmas Day).
Cilla Beal has lived in the area for about five years, moving from Yorkshire to live near her family in Colsterworth.
She now lives at Gregory House care home in Welby Gardens, Grantham.
Cilla was born in Hessle near the Humber Bridge and later moved to Partington where her father was headmaster at the village school. She married Charlie in 1938 and they had a son and a daughter. Her daughter sadly died a year after Cilla moved to the village. She never went to work but played piano for choirs and enjoyed keep fit classes. She enjoyed playing piano until recently as a hobby and still enjoys crossword puzzles. Cilla has four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
At the age of 80 she flew, for the first time, to Canada where two of her grandchildren live.
Cilla said: “When I was young I always wanted to have a birthday sometime during the year because all my friends had their parties throughout the year and mine just got mixed up with Christmas Day!”
Cilla was visited by family for her birthday, including her family from Canada.
