A coffee morning for disabled people and their families was held in Grantham to mark Mencap Learning Disability Week.
Over 100 people attended the pop-in information coffee shop at The George Centre within the first two hours. Parents and carers of people with disabilities were able to get together and socialise over coffee and cakes.
The event was organised by Grantham and District Mencap, which aims to strengthen support networks for people in the local community with learning disabilities.
Julie Doughty, who helped organise the event, said: “We were amazed at the repsonse we got from both the public and local providers. Many thanks to The George Centre for allowing us to use the shop unit free of charge.”
Many local organisations took part in the morning, including Grantham College, Grantham Leisure Centre, Heritage Care, Grantham Learning Disability Team, Ready 4 Work, YPLP and Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service.
Another coffee morning will be held in October. To find out more, e-mail Julie at email@example.com or call The Cree Centre on 01476 566050.
