The building in Greenwoods Row, Grantham, which was home to the Grantham Journal for several decades, is to become a car park.

The former Grantham Journal office in Greenwoods Row will be demolished to make way for a car park if a planning application is approved.

Grantham Investments now owns the building and has submitted a planning application to South Kesteven District Council which states its intention to demolish the building. The frontage on to High Street will remain unaffected.

A statement accompanying the application states: “Following demolition, site to be leveled to match surrounding ground levels, utilising ground demolition material or compacted hardcore.

“Site to be left in a suitable condition to enable implementation of works to create a car park.”

** What do you think? Is further car parking needed in the town centre? Would you like to see the site utilised for something else? Comment on this story or email comment@granthamjournal.co.uk
