A donation of £500 has gone to the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, raised through a clay pigeon shoot at last year’s Corby Glen Sheep Fair.

The committee that runs the 776-year-old sheep fair, believed to be the oldest such event in the country, presented the donation to the charity, and revealed its plan to double it to £1,000 next time.

Without such generosity we simply couldn’t fly.

Air ambulance representative Emma Young

Event co-organiser Alan Bontoft said: “We’re really chuffed that our sheep fair clay pigeon shoot raised so much money for this great cause. It’s testimony to the generosity of everyone involved.

“I’d like to thank all those who came to the shoot – participants, volunteers and sponsors alike. We are hoping they will get involved again at the next event and help us to meet our fund-raising target of £1,000.”

Air ambulance representative Emma Young thanked members for their kind donation. She added: “The money raised at the sheep fair event is a fantastic contribution to our charity. Without such generosity we simply couldn’t fly.

“We’re really hoping that the next event does just as well, or even better! We’re very grateful to the organisers and all the donators.“

It costs over £1.8m a year to keep the RAF Waddington-based Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance in the air and fully equipped. Find out more about the charity and how you can support it.
