COUNCILLORS in South Kesteven District Council’s cabinet paid tribute to bin men for their efforts through the ice and snow.
Coun Mike Taylor praised bin staff for “their tenacity for getting out to do their job”.
Coun Leader Linda Neal praised all council staff for their efforts over the past couple of weeks.
She said: “Everyone did a splendid job in the weather conditions. We did support the gritting because there were some areas where the county council did not reach.
“Everyone pulled together to make sure the services were covered. We have worked hard to make sure the people who relied on services did not see a change - other than the odd bin.”
Coun Carpenter praised bin collections - despite his own not being collected.
He said: “People don’t realise how many bins we collect. We do 72, 295 collections per week, which brings it into perspective. We collected 80 per cent of that.
“My bin did not get collected that week and I certainly did not complain.”
