PARENTS concerned about the safety of their children because of speeding cars have signed a petition calling for action.

The petition has been signed by more than 80 parents of children at St Anne’s School who want measures to slow down cars travelling along Harrowby Road.

South Kesteven District Council chairman Mike Cook and county and district councillor Adam Stokes are supporting the calls for safety measures.

Coun Stokes said: “Over the last few years this has been a problem road. There is a lot more traffic using it now and a lot of lorries coming through.”

Coun Cook said he will be pushing to have the speed limit on the road lowered to 20mph.

He added: “Child safety is the primary issue and lowering the limit would certainly help.”
