COUPLES can now get married in the impressive Victorian ballroom at Grantham’s Guildhall Arts Centre.
The building is already used for wedding receptions and parties, but can now be used for civil ceremonies for the first time.
South Kesteven District council cultural services team leader Graham Burley sees the granting of the licence by Lincolnshire Registration and Celebratory Services as completing the wedding package.
He said: ‘The Guildhall is a unique and beautiful building and the ballroom - with its sweeping staircase leading up from the main entrance and its original Victorian features - is a fantastic setting for any occasion.
“Set right in the centre of town, the ballroom is already a popular choice for wedding receptions and parties, particularly with its adjoining function kitchen and bar, but getting a licence to hold civil ceremonies is the icing on the cake.
“We have a great team here at the arts centre who are experienced at managing big functions and we look forward to hosting many a happy occasion.”
The Guildhall has a licence to hold civil ceremonies in both the ballroom and the Newton room.
The Guildhall Coffee Shop can provide catering from exclusive reception buffets to evening party platters and the ballroom kitchen can also be hired and used by certified caterers.
