Court report ordered over fears for woman

A psychiatric report for a young female defendant was ordered by magistrates over serious concerns for her mental health.

Nicole Fabre, of Bridge End Road in Grantham, was accused of stealing lager worth £2 from My Local Supermarket in London Road, and wine worth £5.90 from Manthorpe Jet Service Station. The 25-year-old also faces a charge of committing an offence while subject to a conditional discharge.

The Probation Service and Fabre’s solicitor raised concerns for her mental state which is believed to underpin her drug and alcohol problems.

Magistrates were asked to adjourn the case for a psychiatric report to be carried out. The case was adjourned until January 28.

But magistrate Kevin Moody issued Fabre with a stark warning over her repeated flouting of bail conditions, saying this is her “last chance” and she will be locked up if she does it again.

He added: “I hope your week in custody has given you time to think.”

Fabre replied: “It has, it really has. I didn’t enjoy it.”

Fabre was released on conditional bail.
