Teenager Michael Minty was banned from driving for 18 months after drinking Jagerbombs in Grantham town centre then getting behind the wheel.

Minty, 18, told police officers he had two Jagerbombs in Grantham then drove a friend to his home in Trent Road. He was stopped by police in Trent Road and found to be more than twice over the drink-drive limit.

Chris Pye-Smith, defending, said: “It was a misjudgment on the part of Mr Minty. He did not realise the two drinks would take him to that level of alcohol.

“They were far stronger than he expected and he was amazed at the level.”

Minty, of Baines Avenue, Balderton, was banned from driving for 18 months. He must pay a fine of £110, £85 costs and a £20 surcharge.
