An RAF officer stationed at Cranwell is leading a military assault on the music charts in a bid for the coveted Christmas number one.
Flight Lieutenant Matt Little, music director of the Band of the RAF College, will provide the lead vocals as a group of Military Voices plans to dominate the airwaves in the run up to Christmas.
He will be supported by RAF Spitfire Choir, Abby Scott and Canterbury Cathedral chorister William Ince on the song ‘1914 - A Christmas Carol’, composed by Chris Eaton, which celebrates the power of Christmas to bring peace in the midst of war and commemorates those who fought in World War One.
To promote the song, they have recorded a video at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey.
The song is raising money for The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, ABF The Soldier’s Charity and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund and hopes to battle its way to number one in the 100th anniversary year of the Great War. It is now available for pre-order online. For more information: www.rafbf.org/1914
