Crime bonanza for town’s car thieves

POLICE are asking people take basic precautions after an increase in car break-ins and shed burglaries in Grantham.

Two cars in Chichester Close, one in Balmoral Drive and one in Richmond Drive were all targeted overnight on Tuesday. A sat nav, a briefcase and a laptop were stolen.

All of the cars had been left unlocked by their owners.

Insp Gary Stewart said: “Clearly thieves are walking down roads and trying doors on the off chance that they’ll find unlocked cars – unfortunately they are finding an awful lot of them. We need to work together to beat these criminals.”
