Crimestoppers is offering two rewards of up to £1,000 for information leading to the arrest of men believed to be responsible for burglaries in Lincolnshire and beyond.

The crime-fighting charity hopes the rewards will bring about the arrest of Stephen Russell Berry, 43, and Stephen Michael Shaw, 41, both from Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

The two men are believed to be prolific burglars, responsible for the theft of thousands of pounds worth of property from around 30 burglaries over six counties, including Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire.

In one of these burglaries, the victim was a 93-year-old woman who was asleep in her bed when she was awoken by a torch shining in her bedroom. She quickly became aware of two men, one of whom was searching through her bedside drawers. The lady shouted out to the offenders and they made off. She later discovered that several items of jewellery and her handbag had been stolen. This offence has left the lady feeling terrified.

Crimestoppers is offering the reward of up to £1,000 for information passed to the charity’s 0800 555 111 number that leads to an arrest and conviction of these men.

Gemma Wilson, Crimestoppers’ Yorkshire and Humberside regional manager, said: “Stephen Berry and Stephen Shaw are believed to be responsible for a huge number of crimes.

“Burglary is terribly distressing for victims as it can make people afraid to be in their own homes as well as immensely upset at the loss of belongings; particularly when family heirlooms and other items of great sentimental value are taken.

“Crimestoppers would urge anyone with information to contact the charity anonymously, safe in the knowledge that no one will ever know you contacted us.”
