YOBS have cost a small Grantham business £1,400 by smashing the front windows.Cyclesport, in London Road, was vandalised in the early hours of Sunday morning, most likely by boozers wanting to “take a bike to ride home”, said owner David Williams.

Mr Williams hopes insurers will cover the cost of the extensive damage, which was fully repaired yesterday (Thursday).

He said: “I’ve got a bill for the glass for £1,400, for a pretty brainless piece of damage like that.”

Police have viewed CCTV footage, which shows two figures carrying out the vandalism, but the images are not clear enough to identify the culprits. No witnesses have yet come forward.

Thankfully, the cycle shop, which is owned by Mr Williams along with another in Lincoln, is rarely targeted by vandals. A previous incident dates back around 18 months ago in which the large glass panel in the door was damaged.

Business has not been affected by the vandalism at the weekend.

Mr Williams said: “In fact, it’s been a bit of a talking point. People have been coming in asking what happened.”
