Two burglars who carried out a day-time raid on a house in Grantham have been jailed at Lincoln Crown Court.
Clive Taylor and Samuel Kenny opened drawers and cupboards leaving the contents strewn about the property in The Grove.
Ian Way, prosecuting, said the pair made off with items including a camera, a tablet computer, a watch and two mobile phones.
The raid was discovered when the occupiers returned home in the afternoon to find their home in a mess.
Mr Way said “The victim described the house as being tipped upside down. She and her husband were so upset they couldn’t stay at home that night.”
Following the raid police received information that implicated Taylor and Kenny. Officers went to Taylor’s home where both men were arrested.
Taylor, 26, of Thames Road, Grantham, and Kenny, 26, of Stour Court, Grantham, each admitted burglary on June 11 this year.
Taylor, who had two previous convictions for house burglary, was jailed for two years and five months with a £120 victim surcharge. Kenny was jailed for eight months with a £100 victim surcharge. They were each also ordered to pay a £900 criminal courts charge.
Chris Milligan, for Taylor, said the two men had been in the area to see Taylor’s sister and committed an opportunistic offence.
He said “Temptation got the better of them. He is very sorry. He regretted it as soon as he got the property back to his own house.”
Stephen Kemp, for Kenny, said his client had been working for an agency but his hours were reduced.
“He regrets not having thought about the consequences of what he was doing.”
