A PETERBOROUGH man who crashed his car the morning after a heavy night of drinking was banned for 18 months after recording a breath test that was twice over the legal limit.
Ghulam Abbas, of Haddon Road, Peterborough, was found standing next to his car, which he had crashed into a ditch off the A52 at Sedgebrook.
Rory Macmillan, defending, said the 46-year-old was very ashamed about what had happened. He claimed it was a misjudgement.
District Judge Richard Blake, who fined Abbas £200 plus costs, said: “If you get up early in the morning the risk is that if you have drunk a lot the night before you will still be over the limit.
”That said you were well over the limit. You should’ve been aware that the quantity you had drunk the night before would take you over.”
