A 22-year-old man pleaded guilty to possessing MKat and cannabis after being caught on CCTV.
Michael Wright of Middleton Road, Newark also admitted that the two offences put him in breach of a nine month conditional discharge given on May 26 2013 for possession, as he committed the offences just days before it was due to expire.
In the early hours of December 21, CCTV operators informed police that they had seen two males acting suspiciously in a car parked on Westgate.
When police arrived, explained prosecutor Jim Clare, they spoke to the two men before conducting a search of Wright’s car during which a small bag of cannabis was found in a fuse box within the vehicle.
Wright was then arrested and at Grantham police station strip searched, where a small bag of MKat was found at the top of his right leg and testicle.
Representing himself in court, Wright said: “I’d like to apologise for what I did.
“I have learnt my lesson. It won’t happen again.”
Magistrates sentenced Wright to a community order supervised for six months, and also ordered him to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
They also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
