Prolific offender Nathan Page was caught attempting to steal Ralph Lauren aftershave worth £54.50 from Boots in Grantham.

Page, of Dysart Road, Grantham, was seen by a store security officer removing the display bottle from Boots before leaving the store.

Page was stopped outside and immediately admitted the offence.

Jim Clare, prosecuting, said Page has 84 offences on his record and has recently served a lengthy custodial sentence.

Giles Tyas, defending, said Page had been drinking at the time of the offence and had been taking diazepam after suffering nerve damage when he was bitten by a dog.

Mr Tyas said: “He apologises for this opportunistic and very silly thing to have done.”

Page, 29, was fined £80 and must pay costs of £85 and a £20 surcharge.

Chairman of magistrates Greg Cejer told Page: “You have got one last chance.”
