Lincolnshire Police will be asked to reconsider charging a man who damaged a plug socket - which he has already paid to have repaired.
Jack Wakefield, 30, of Burley Road, Ryhall, Stamford, appeared in court after allegedly causing damage to a plug socket at a council property in Castle Bytham.
Bill Fraser, defending, said: “The socket has since been repaired by my client at a cost of £2.
“I can’t quite understand why the police have brought a prosecution at all but that’s a matter for them.”
The defence asked that the case be referred back to Lincolnshire Police to consider a caution, which was accepted by prosecutor Daniel Pietryka.
Magistrates adjourned the case for three weeks “to allow the police to consider an alternative course of action”.
